Terms and conditions

Last updated: 13 August 2026

These terms apply when customers post jobs, businesses submit offers, a customer provisionally selects an offer, the selected business confirms the job and FairerQuote.uk releases contact details after any applicable success fee is paid or waived. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms.

Operator details

FairerQuote.uk is a marketplace platform, not the contractor

FairerQuote.uk provides an online marketplace and introduction service. It helps customers publish work and compare offers from independent businesses. FairerQuote.uk does not carry out the work, employ or supervise the businesses, set the final terms of the work contract, hold customer funds for the work, or act as an agent with authority to bind a customer or a business. The contract for the work itself is made directly between the customer and the selected business.

FairerQuote.uk is not an insurer, guarantor, surveyor, engineer, quantity surveyor, escrow provider or professional adviser. A listing, profile, verification badge, AI analysis, price comparison or platform communication is not a guarantee that a business, quote, price, specification or job is suitable, safe, lawful or of any particular quality.

Accounts

Account holders must be at least 18, provide accurate information, keep passwords secure and notify FairerQuote.uk if they suspect unauthorised access. One person or business must not impersonate another.

Customer responsibilities

Customers must provide genuine and reasonably accurate job and quote information, have permission to upload any documents or images, avoid sharing unnecessary personal or sensitive information publicly, and make their own assessment before choosing a business. Customers are responsible for checking matters that are important to them, including the business's identity, insurance, qualifications, references, scope, timescale, guarantees and payment terms.

Business responsibilities

Businesses use FairerQuote.uk for purposes connected with their trade or profession. They must provide accurate identity, qualification, insurance and pricing information; offer only work they are authorised and competent to perform; clearly separate labour and materials where requested; and honour the scope and terms agreed with the customer.

Each business remains responsible for complying with laws and professional requirements that apply to its work, including any required licences, registrations, permissions, building or safety rules, tax obligations, insurance and consumer-law duties. FairerQuote.uk does not take over those responsibilities. A business must also provide additional identity, tax-residence or tax-identification information if FairerQuote.uk reasonably requires it to comply with UK platform-reporting or other legal obligations.

Selection, contact exchange and the work contract

Customer selection is provisional. The selected business may accept or decline. Contact details remain hidden until the business accepts and the FairerQuote success fee is paid or waived. If the business declines before that point, the job reopens. Once contact is released, the customer and business arrange the work directly. FairerQuote.uk is not a party to that contract and does not receive or hold the customer's payment for the trade or building work.

Fees and payment

Posting jobs and submitting offers are free. Businesses pay no monthly subscription. The first confirmed win for an eligible business is free. Later fixed success fees are based on the total value of the business offer accepted by the customer (labour plus materials), not on the customer's original quote: up to £250 — £5; £250.01–£500 — £10; £500.01–£1,000 — £20; £1,000.01–£2,500 — £35; £2,500.01–£5,000 — £50; £5,000.01–£10,000 — £75; over £10,000 — £100.

The exact fee and total amount payable are displayed before the selected business confirms and pays. If the selected business declines before confirmation, no success fee is due and the job may reopen. The first-win waiver is intended once per genuine business and must not be obtained repeatedly through duplicate, linked or replacement accounts. This is a payment by the selected business to FairerQuote.uk for the platform service and contact exchange. It is not payment for the customer's building or trade work. Card payments are processed securely by Stripe; FairerQuote.uk does not store full card details. The current public fee table is also available on the Pricing page.

Cancellation before contact exchange

The selected business may decline before confirming the job and paying the fee, in which case no fee is due and the job may reopen. A customer may withdraw a provisional selection before the business confirms. Once payment has been confirmed and contact details have been released, the FairerQuote.uk platform service has been supplied immediately.

Refund policy

A refund may be issued where there has been a duplicate payment, an incorrect fee caused by FairerQuote.uk, a technical failure that prevents the paid contact exchange, or a job that FairerQuote.uk verifies as fraudulent or non-existent. Refunds are not normally provided merely because either party later changes their mind, the customer does not proceed after contact details have been exchanged, or the work is not ultimately started or completed.

To request a refund, email fairerquote@gmail.com as soon as possible and normally within 14 days of payment, including the job reference, payment date, amount and reason. Later requests may be considered where reasonable. Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method; bank processing times are outside FairerQuote.uk's control. Nothing in this policy limits rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

AI quote analysis

The AI quote-analysis tool is provided to help transcribe, summarise, structure and redact an uploaded quote. It is not a professional valuation, survey, engineering opinion or a determination that a quote is fair. Automated extraction and redaction can be wrong or incomplete. The customer must review and, where necessary, correct the generated information before publication. FairerQuote.uk may prevent or remove publication where the analysis appears unsafe, misleading or to contain personal information.

Business ranking, offer order and data access

At launch, FairerQuote.uk does not sell paid placement or secretly boost one business above another. Jobs are generally shown to businesses by availability/status and recent activity. When a customer views offers, accepted or selected offers are prioritised by status; otherwise submitted offers are generally ordered by total offer price and then submission time. FairerQuote.uk may adjust presentation where reasonably necessary for safety, fraud prevention, testing or service operation.

Before selection, a business can access the public job information made available on the listing and its own offer information. Businesses do not receive the customer's private contact details or original quote document merely by viewing or bidding on a job. After the selected business confirms and the applicable fee is paid or waived, the selected business receives the customer contact details made available by the service, including the exact postcode. FairerQuote.uk administrators may access account, job, offer, payment and uploaded-document information where reasonably necessary to operate, secure and support the service, investigate misuse or comply with law.

FairerQuote.uk does not require a business to offer the same or better price through the platform than through other channels, and does not prevent a business from offering its services elsewhere.

Reviews, verification and safety

A business is verified only where its profile is expressly marked as verified. A verification badge means only that FairerQuote.uk has completed the checks described for that badge at the relevant time; it is not an endorsement, warranty or guarantee of future conduct or workmanship. Customers should still confirm insurance, qualifications, references, written scope, timescale and payment arrangements where relevant.

Complaints and disputes

Please send complaints, account issues or payment queries to fairerquote@gmail.com with the relevant job and payment references. FairerQuote.uk aims to acknowledge complaints within 5 working days and provide a substantive response within 14 working days. If more time is needed, we will explain why.

FairerQuote.uk may assist with platform records or communication, but it does not act as an adjudicator of workmanship disputes and does not decide contractual claims between a customer and business. This process does not remove any rights available through a card issuer, Stripe, an applicable dispute-resolution service or the courts.

Price transparency and public history

Non-personal job details may remain visible after selection or completion together with anonymous offer totals and the accepted price. Customer names, business names, contact details, exact addresses, private messages and uploaded quote documents are not included in the public price history.

Prohibited use

Users must not post false jobs, manipulate offers or reviews, impersonate others, upload unlawful content, bypass fees, misuse contact details, scrape the service or attempt to compromise its security.

Online safety and reporting content

Users and visitors can report content or conduct they reasonably believe is illegal, fraudulent, threatening, abusive, unsafe or otherwise prohibited by these terms by using the report link on a job page or emailing fairerquote@gmail.com. Please include the job or account reference and enough information for us to investigate, but do not send unnecessary sensitive information.

FairerQuote.uk may review, restrict or remove reported content, suspend relevant accounts, preserve information needed for an investigation and make reports to law-enforcement or other authorities where required by law. FairerQuote.uk does not guarantee that every user submission is reviewed before it appears on the service.

Suspension, restriction and termination

FairerQuote.uk may suspend or close accounts, remove content or withhold contact exchange where reasonably necessary to investigate fraud, protect users, enforce these terms or comply with law. Where applicable to a business user, FairerQuote.uk will provide the reasons for a restriction, suspension or termination on or before it takes effect, unless law, security or fraud-prevention requirements prevent that notice.

We aim to keep the service available but do not promise uninterrupted or error-free access.

Responsibility and limitation of liability

FairerQuote.uk is not responsible for the acts or omissions of customers or independent businesses, or for the quality, safety, legality, timing, price or outcome of work arranged between them. FairerQuote.uk is also not responsible for losses caused by inaccurate user-provided information or by a customer or business relying on an AI-generated analysis without checking it.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, FairerQuote.uk is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, loss of profit, loss of business, loss of opportunity or similar business losses arising from the conduct of another user or from the work contract. Any exclusion or restriction applying to a business user operates only to the extent permitted and reasonable under applicable law.

Nothing in these terms excludes or restricts liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability or statutory right that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms where the service, fees or legal requirements change. The updated date will be shown at the top. For business users, material changes to the terms will normally be notified at least 15 days before they take effect, so the business can review the change and stop using the service if it does not agree. A shorter or immediate change may be necessary where required by law, to address an unforeseen and imminent security or fraud risk, or where the change does not reduce the business user's rights.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, but this does not remove any mandatory consumer right to bring proceedings in another UK jurisdiction where applicable.
